What is the role of the Mediator?
The Mediator is an independent third party who facilitates a discussion, between the people experiencing conflict, in a way that enables them to find their own solutions to the problem.
Mediation is confidential and the mediator will not tell the participants what to do, but will instead support them to consider solutions, and reach a decision that feels fair to everyone involved. |
The Mediation Agreement
Mediation agreements are reached by both (all) parties within the joint mediation meetings and are intended
to be a positive way forward.
The discussions and written agreements are confidential to all parties involved in the mediation process and
are not shared unless agreed by all parties.
The mediator(s) are impartial and do not take sides. The process aims to be conducted in fairness to all parties
and a degree of respect to all parties is essential in order to move forward to a positive conclusion.
The agreement is intended to be an expression of the commitment to resolve past issues and move on to
building a positive relationship.
